PHOENIX, Ariz. – Portland dropped a 91-63 men's basketball game to the Grand Canyon Antelopes Saturday in the final game of a Jerry Colangelo Classic quadruple-header at the Footprint Center, home of the NBA's Phoenix Suns.
The Lopes improve to 9-1 with the win, while the Pilots fall to 6-6.
Four Pilots reached double figures, led by Tyler Robertson, who had 17 points. Tyler Harris tacked on 15 points and 10 rebounds and Vukasin Masic chipped in as well with 12 points.
How It Happened
Portland struggled out of the gate as GCU went on a 14-2 run capped by a Rae Harrison jumper for a 22-9 lead. The Lopes extended the margin to as much as 16 late in the half before taking a 41-28 lead into halftime.
The Pilots twice pulled within 10 early in the second half, but GCU responded with an 8-0 run sparked by a pair of three-pointers from Gabe Mcglothan. The deficit went to 20 on a Tyon Grant-Foster layup.
Portland made one more run and pulled within 62-49 on a Harris transition three. GCU then created separation with back-to-back triples from Harrison and Mcglothan and cruised down the stretch.

» Portland found success from three-point land, knocking down nine treys in the game.
» Grand Canyon owned the glass and finished with a 51-32 rebounding margin.
» The Lopes scored 22 second chance points on 17 offensive rebounds.
» Chris Austin was the fourth Pilot in double figures with 12 points.
» Tyler Harris picked up his fourth double-double of the season.
» Mcglothan led the Lopes with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

The Pilots will conclude non-conference play next week at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. Portland will face host Hawaii on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. (PT) on ESPN2. The eight-team bracket also features UMass and Georgia Tech on Portland's side, along with TCU, Old Dominion, Temple and Nevada on the opposite side. All games will be aired on the ESPN family of networks.
