SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Portland Pilots Women's Soccer had two players named to the 2023 WCC All-Academic Team, with goalkeeper Bre Norris and a defender Camille Ashe earning honors. Several other players earned honorable mention, with Kayla Adams, Nedya Sawan, Cally Togiai, Elianna Wong, Aubrey Turner, Katana Norman, Isabella Yakel and Brooke Miller all getting recognition.
The WCC All-Academic Team is comprised of 11 players who excelled both on the field and in the classroom. To qualify for the team, a student-athlete must be a significant starter or reserve who played in at least 50% of their team's contests while posting a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Norris was the WCC Goalkeeper of the Year and an All-WCC First Team selection after posting one of best seasons for a goalkeeper this year. Norris led the WCC in goals-against average (.529), save percentage (.836) and total shutouts (11), ranking eighth and 11
th nationally in shutouts and goals-against average. She was an All-West Region First Team selection as well and a three-time WCC Player of the Week winner.
Ashe was also crucial to Portland's stellar defense this year. A two-time WCC Defensive Player of the Week and All-WCC First Team selection, Ashe helped guide Portland's defense to a goals-against average of .529 and a shutout percentage of .647. Both numbers led the WCC and ranked ninth and second respectively in the nation. She was an All-West Region Second Team pick.
Portland had a solid season this fall, posting a 10-4-3 record for their best overall winning percentage since 2013 (.68). It's the first time they've posted back-to-back seasons of 10 wins since that year as well.
