Pilots Record Four Event Wins at L&C Spring Break Open

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Four Pilots were able to record event wins today, March 18th, at the L&C Spring Break Open.

The Pilots started the day by securing victory in three out of four heats of the men's 1500, with Ahmed Sado taking first place overall in the men's 1500 meter in a time of 3:49.85 in heat 1, Evan DeLaCruz running 4:03.53 in heat 2 and Jack Klines in 4:16.09 to win heat 3. The event included seven personal records on the day.

The women's 1500 meter saw Sam Prusse finish third overall in heat 1 with a time of 4:36.06. Katie Newton ran a PR to win heat 2 of the women's 1500 in a time of 4:53.93, leading to a 1-2 finish in the heat for the Pilots with Mie Nielsen finishing second in 4:54.07.

Moe Ombougno cracked the 50 second barrier in the men's 400 meter running 49.27, good for No. 7 All-time at University of Portland. Isabella Dreiling and Alexia Lipscomb both ran outdoor PRs of 1:01.77 and 1:03.41 in the women's 400 meter.

Ella Parker won the women's 100 meter dash in a time of 12.86.

Pilots went 1-2 in the men's 800 meter, led by Yutaka Roberts in a PR of 1:51.47, followed closely by Konnor Hathaway in 1:52.10.

Teresa Perez won the women's 800 meter dash in a PR of 2:09.61, good for No. 6 All-time. Stina Pettersson finished in a close second in a PR of 2:11.32.

The day concluded with the women's 200 meter dash, where Ella Parker finished second overall in a time of 26.25. Isabella Dreiling finished sixth overall in 27.27 and Alexia Lipscomb ran 28.02 for tenth.

"Great weather, great day!" Said Head Coach Rob Conner. "Nice to kick off the outdoor season on a positive! Most everyone was in or around a pr and we had a lot of heat wins which was fun."

The Pilots will have a week off from racing to gear up for the Stanford Invitational and Pacific Open meets on Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st.
