PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots fell in their midweek matchup against the Washington Huskies 6-2.
Curtis Hebert (0-1) started his first game as a Pilot and took the loss on the mound for Portland (7-5). At the plate, the Pilots were led by Holcroft, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a triple, a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Zach Toglia furnished a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Junior Jake Tsukada also chipped in for Portland, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
How it Happened
The Pilots were trailing 4-0 in the fifth inning when they finally put runs on the board. Portland plated two runs off of Washington pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Toglia. The Pilots were unable to get any closer, as Washington added two runs to their tally on the way to a 6-2 final.

» Portland went 3-for-10 (.300) with runners in scoring position.
» Portland pitchers faced 45 Washington hitters in the game, allowing three ground balls and 12 fly balls while striking out 11.
» Holcroft led the Pilots at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. It's the first triple of the season for Portland.
» Washington was led offensively by junior Will Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI.
» Freshman Sam Boyle led the Huskies pitching staff, throwing four shutout innings.
