How it Happened

The Pilots then held the Broncos scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Portland scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Jake Tsukada, which brought the Pilots lead to 4-0.
Santa Clara narrowed Portland's lead to 4-1 before the Pilots stretched the advantage to 7-1 in the eighth inning. The Pilots scored three times, picking up two runs off RBI singles from Ben Patacsil and Scavotto and another off a walk. The 7-1 score would hold until the end.
