PORTLAND, Ore./Eugene, Ore. – The Pilots split their squad between to meets this weekend, UO Twilight and Portland Twilight, finding great success in both competitions.Â

UO Twilight took place in Eugene, Ore. on May 5th. The meet showcased a total of 14 Pilots, many of which were battling for wins or setting personal bests. Jonas Gertsen and Zak Kirk kept their season's momentum going, setting personal bests in the 5,000 meter run of 13:46.36 and 13:47.79, respectively. These times were good for No. 6 and No. 8 All-time for University of Portland.Â

The meet was also highlighted by Laura Pellicoro's strong finish in the women's 1500 in 4:15.41, good for second overall. Mathilde Deswaef also set a personal best in the 1500, running 4:24.71 to finish in a close second in her heat.Â

On day 2 of competition at the Portland Twilight meet, many Pilots doubled back from the evening before to run another race. Oh these finishers, Konnor Hathaway ran 1:52.50 and 1:50.43 while Aidan Fitzgerald ran 1:51.87 and 1:51.30, respectively. Ahmed Sado also doubled back from an 8:54.56 steeplechase in Eugene to run 1:52.69 in the men's 800.Â

Laura Pellicoro doubled back from her second place finish in the 1500 meter at UO Twilight to finish in a close second in the 800 meter at Portland Twilight in 2:03.80, finishing only behind Olympic Bronze Medalist Raevyn Rogers.Â

Mathilde Deswaef and Stina Pettersson were able to capture PRs in the 800 after their 1500 meter performances in Eugene. Deswaef finished in 2:10.94 to win her heat, while Pettersson finished in 2:11.13.Â

Other highlights included Steven Durr's heat win in the men's 1500 in a PR 4:09.09. Sully Nordheim's PR of 1:53.22 in the men's 800. Mason Jekogian (3:55.84) and Eliason Kabasenche (3:49.14) both run PRs in the men's 1500 to finish second in their respective heats. Claire Fagan (16:26.38) and Sam Prusse (16:37.24) both ran PRs in the Women's 5,000 meter.

The Pilots will next compete at the L&C Last Chance Meet hosted by Lewis and Clark College at Griswold Stadium on Saturday, May 13.Â
