SEATTLE, Wash. – The Portland Pilots continue their preseason with an exhibition match against the No. 6 ranked Washington Huskies. They play the Huskies up in Seattle tomorrow, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m.
The Pilots are coming off a 3-1 exhibition victory against the Seattle U Redhawks this past Friday. The Pilots come into this year after a highly successful 2022 campaign that saw them finish 15-3-3 for their best overall record and win percentage (.786) since 1995. They made the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time since that same year as well. They enter the year ranked 13
th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The Huskies, meanwhile, are one of the top teams entering the season. They went 15-2-3 last year to win the Pac-12 title and earned a bye to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season as the No. 2 seed. However, the Huskies fell to the Creighton Blue Jays in their first match, a team who went on to make the College Cup. The Pilots last played the Huskies in the outside of exhibition play in 2021, when they fell 3-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
After the match, the Pilots will play just one more exhibition – a home match against the Southern Oregon Raiders on Aug. 18 – before hosting the Sacramento State Hornets on Friday, Aug. 25 for their regular season home opener. Kickoff for both matches are set for 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for more details.
