PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland volleyball team fell 3-2 (21-25, 25-23, 14-25, 25-23, 11-15) to the Wyoming Cowgirls Thursday at home at Chiles Center. The non-conference loss dropped Portland to 3-4 on the season.
Maui Robins finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Pilots attack. The Pilots got 10 digs from Elena Bullemer to lead them defensively.
The Pilots will be back in the Chiles Center to face the CSUN Matadors tomorrow, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots fell behind early, losing the first set 25-21. Portland trailed by as many as seven points as Wyoming grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that was tied up three times before the Cowgirls took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Portland responded to pick up a 25-23 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The Pilots persevered in a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied 11 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way. The Portland offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Wyoming grabbed a 2-1 match lead after taking down the Pilots in set three. The Pilots dropped a tough set 25-14. Portland trailed by as many as 11 points as Wyoming grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was tied up two times before the Cowgirls took over the lead.
SET 4 | Portland then responded to win set four 25-23 to force a fifth set. The Pilots took the lead for good at 24-23 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Pilots took over in the second half of the stanza. Portland got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Wyoming attacks in the stanza.
SET 5 | Portland came up short in a back-and-forth match, winning the second and fourth sets, but losing the first, third and fifth, which they dropped by the score of 15-11, to fall in the match. The Pilots had a lead early in the set at 8-7 before Wyoming took over.
