PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland came back from a 15-point deficit with a chance to tie the game late but fell to the Kansas City Roos 69-64 Tuesday at the Chiles Center. Austin Rapp scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his first career double-double with the Pilots.
Jermaine Ballisager Webb matched his season high with 14 points off the bench for the Pilots (3-7), while Vincent Delano and Mikah Ballew added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Brown finished with a game-high 20 points to pace the Roos (5-7).
Kansas City used a 20-6 run over the final five minutes of the first half to take a 44-30 lead into the break. The margin grew to 15 points before the Pilots surged back and made it a 61-58 deficit on a Rapp three-point play with 5:19 remaining.
Ballisager Webb's layup made it 63-62 with under two minutes to go. Rapp had an off-balance three-pointer to tie the game miss with 30 seconds left and Kansas City made free throws in the final seconds to ice the game.
Portland shot 48 percent overall and gained a 39-9 edge in bench points on the night, but the Roos made 9-of-21 three-pointers and forced 17 Pilot turnovers. Portland was just 3-for-18 from beyond the arc.

The Pilots host Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. and then conclude non-conference action Saturday against Lafayette College at 1 p.m. WCC plays begins with Portland hosting Washington State on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 5 p.m.
