Nick Brink Named WCC Pitcher of the Week

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- For the first time this season, right-hander Nick Brink was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week. It's the second week in a row a Pilot pitcher has taken the award.

Brink was dominant in his start against the USC Trojans last Friday, going six shutout innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts and no runs allowed. It was the second start this season where Brink hadn't allowed a single run. The Pilots went on to win 4-0 for their first shutout victory of the year.

The Portland product has been dominant the last two seasons, with 16 straight appearances with two or fewer earned runs allowed and 11 straight starts. He currently leads the WCC in strikeouts with 19 total and is one of just two WCC pitchers to have started multiple games and not allowed an earned run. He's the only pitcher in the conference to have not allowed any runs in multiple starts.

The Pilots are playing their first month of games on the road and are 3-3 heading into a road series against the Utah Valley Wolverines. They'll play a three-game series starting on Friday, March 1 with first pitch set for 3:05 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
