PORTLAND, Ore. – It was a milestone evening at the Lewis & Clark Distance Carnival, with several Pilots setting personal bests, Ella Parker putting up an all-time great 200-meter dash time and Estanis Ruiz breaking school record in the 800-meter run.
16 different Pilots set personal records on Saturday, highlighted by Parker and Ruiz. Parker posted a time of 25.06 in the 200-meter dash, breaking her previous record by just under three-tenths of a second and moving up to fifth on the all-time list in the 200-meter. Parker also took third in the race.
On the women's side, several runners set PRs on the day, with Alenzia Frendrick posting times of 13.00 and 26.39 in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes respectively. Ly'le Pullon and Hannah Bonsack each posted personal bests in the 100-meter dash and Lola Richardson ran a personal best in the 200-meter. Marlee Cavitt did not set any personal records, but finished first in both of her races, finishing the 100-meter dash in 12.13 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 24.65 seconds.
In the distance events, even more Pilots flourished, starting with Katie Newton, who ran a personal-best 4:46.49 in the collegiate level 1,500-meter run. In the elite-level 1,500-meter run, five different Pilots set PRs, led by Courtney Klatt with a time of 4:27.79. Samantha Prusse followed close behind with a time of 4:28.02. Mie Nielsen, Tait Rowley and Brionna Holso make up the rest of the PRs on the women's side, running times of 4:38.10, 4:38.17 and 4:42.99 respectively. Klatt and Prusse also finished third and fourth in the race.
On the men's side, Ruiz broke the 800-meter record by almost half a second, finishing with a time of 1:47.75 to take first in his race as well. It's the first record on the men's side to fall this year in the outdoor season. Aidan Fitzgerald posted a stellar time in the 800-meter as well at 1:49.80, finishing third. Daniel Racle and Nolan Hosbein also had PRs in the elite-level 5,000-meter run with times of 14:09.58 and 14:27.25 respectively and Trey Gannon took fourth in the elite-level 1,500-meter, posting a time of 3:48.18. Bradley Peloquin and Jonas Gertsen took second and third respectively as well in the 5,000-meter.
