PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Portland Pilots took their second matchup against the Washington State Cougars on Tuesday with a 5-3 win in Pullman. It's the first time they've taken all games against a Pac-12 team in a season since 2018.
Ryan Rembisz (1-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Portland (28-17). The southpaw went one inning, giving up one run on one hit, allowing no walks and striking out two. Morgan Codron also made an impact on the mound for the Pilots, starting the ballgame and throwing two shutout innings while allowing no hits, with one walk and three strikeouts. Tanner Douglas earned the save, his ninth of the season.
The Pilots had five runs on nine hits, led by catcher Riley McCarthy. McCarthy got on base five times, batting 3-for-3 officially with a double, two RBI's, a walk and a hit by pitch. Jake Holcroft was also 2-for-4 in the game and scored a run, tying the program record for runs in a career. Brady Bean was also 2-for-4 with two RBI's.
How it Happened

The Cougars then tied the ballgame at one before the Pilots came back to reclaim their advantage in the fifth inning. The Portland offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Bean, which brought the Pilots lead to 5-1.
