SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Alex Waggoner took home West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the No. 6 Portland Pilots, becoming the fourth different Pilot to win a weekly honor and the fifth Pilot winner in six weeks.
Waggoner earned the honor after scoring the game-winning goal for the Pilots this weekend against the No. 12 San Diego Toreros, Portland's first win over a top 15 team this season. His goal was the third of the year for the New Mexico product and the second game-winner. He's one of just nine WCC players this season with multiple game-winning goals on the year.
The Pilots are in stellar position with a 9-0-2 overall record and a 2-0-1 WCC record. They matched a program record with their 21
st consecutive unbeaten result dating back to last season, the longest such streak since 1988. Their 11-game unbeaten streak to start this season is their first such streak through 11 games since 2022 and their nine wins are the most through 11 games while unbeaten since 2018.
Portland's next match is a crucial one, a road contest against the No. 16 Oregon State Beavers. The two teams play on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. down in Corvallis. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
