PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots Women's Basketball brings in their third recruit of the class of 2026, signing forward Carly Gonzalez.
"We are so excited to add Carly to our program," Portland head coach Michael Meek said. "She is someone who can play and guard multiple positions and play both inside and outside offensively. Her best basketball is ahead of her and we are already looking forward to helping her grow her game and reach her full potential."
Gonzalez is a 6-2 wing out of Austin, Texas, playing her high school ball with the St. Michael's Warriors. With the Warriors, Gonzalez has made the UIL 5A All-District First Team twice and the TAPPS 6A All-District First Team once. In the 2024-25, she was named to the All-State First Team for 6A and was the Austin American-Statesman's Central Texas Private and Parochial Player of the Year and first team selection for the paper. She averaged 12.2 points and 12.5 rebounds per game with the Warriors last year.
Gonzalez comes from an athletic family herself. Her dad, Fred Gonzalez, played with the Delaware Blue Hens where he twice made the NCAA Tournament under head coach Mike Brey. Her mother, Stephanie, ran cross country with Dartmouth, where they won two Ivy League Championships.
The Portland Pilots are coming off a historic season that saw them finish with a 31-5 record overall and a 17-3 record in WCC play, setting program records for wins both overall and in WCC play. They won a share of the WCC regular season title, their first since 1996-97, and their fourth title in the last six seasons. They qualified for the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) for the first time as a program, advancing to the quarterfinals with their first ever road wins in the postseason.
Portland takes on the BYU Cougars in their next matchup on Saturday, Dec. 6 here at the Chiles Center. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. on KUNP as well as ESPN+. Check PortlandPilots.com for tickets, live stats and video options.
