INDIANAPOLIS -- Adding to her weekly honors, Portland Pilots forward Alexis Mark was named a USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week on Tuesday. She is the first Pilot to win a national player of the week honor this season.
This is the second weekly award Mark has won this week, having earlier this week been named the WCC Player of the Week. Mark's award comes after a stellar all-around week that saw her average 16 points, eight rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per contest across two games. Mark ended the week with a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double in a comeback win against the Santa Clara Broncos, with 15 of those points coming in the second half. Her performance helped vaulted the Pilots into a tie for first in the WCC. She cross the 1,500-point threshold with her performance as well.
Mark has been one of the Pilots' best all-around players in her first and only year on The Bluff. She's averaging 11.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for Portland, leading the team in rebounding. She's one of just two players in NCAA Division I averaging at least 11.5 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 assists and two steals per contest this season. She has six double-doubles, the fourth most in teh conference and the most by a Pilot since the 2021-22 season.
The Pilots are 26-3 after this past weekend and 15-3 against WCC opponents. It's their best overall record since the 1996-97 season and their 15 WCC wins matches their highest conference win total in program history. They broke a program record for home wins in a season this past weekend with 15 wins. They currently are tied for first place in the conference with two games to play.
Next up, the Pilots head down to San Francisco to take on the San Francisco Dons at the Hilltop. The two teams play on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
