NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --The Portland Pilots scored early and often in their 14-6 win over the CSUN Matadors. JT Landwehr (2-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Portland (17-20), throwing five innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on two hits, allowing no walks and striking out three.
Riley McCarthy's two extra base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-3 day, including two doubles, two walks and an RBI. Toglia made his contribution with two doubles and three RBI's, part of a 2-for-5 performance at the plate. Cole Katayama-Stall also chipped in for the Pilots, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a grand slam, a walk and four RBI's. Jonas Salk and Coleman Hollabaugh added three hits each, with Hollabaugh's hit total being a career-high.
How it Happened

The Matadors added a run in the bottom frame, but the Pilots responded quickly. Brady Bean came across to score the lone run of the inning for Portland off an error, bringing the Pilots' lead to 7-1.
CSUN narrowed Portland's lead to 7-3, but Toglia's two-out RBI double quickly made it 8-3 Pilots. Portland held the Matadors scoreless before adding five runs in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Salk, a two-run double from Toglia and an RBI double from McCarthy, bringing the score to 13-3 in favor of Portland.
