How it Happened
The Pilots were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Portland got an RBI single from Swygart, scoring Cole Katayama-Stall from third base.
The Pilots kept the deficit at 2-1 before tying it up in the third. Portland picked up a run on Swygart's leadoff home run, which brought the score level at 2-2.
Oregon broke that tie and grabbed a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth, but Portland struck back. They scored twice off wild pitches and once on a walk to take a 5-4 lead from the Ducks.
Portland surrendered the lead they built in the fifth, but got back on the board in the seventh trailing 6-5. The Pilots picked up a run on Zach Toglia's one-out solo dinger off Santiago Garcia, evening the score at 6-6.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, the Ducks preceded to hit two batters and walk a third, loading the bases. Howard was beaned in the final at-bat, bringing home a run and giving the Pilots the win.
