SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 9 Portland Pilots battled the No. 24 Saint Louis Billikens to a 0-0 tie on the road, remaining unbeaten through six games. Portland moves to 5-0-1 with the draw.
This is the sixth straight clean sheet for the Pilots, marking the first time since 1988 they've started the year six straight clean. This is the first time the Pilots have started 5-0-1 in a season since 2018 as well, and their unbeaten streak that dates back to last season now extends to 16 games.
How it Happened
The first half saw both teams swing the momentum their way at various points. Shots were nearly even through the first 45 minutes, with the Billikens holding a 6-5 advantage in that department. The Portland defense was stout, coming up with crucial defensive plays to keep things even at 0-0 through the first 45 minutes.
Neither team gained a clear advantage in the second. Portland put one more shot on goal and were dangerous in numerous moments offensively. Miguel-Angel Hernandez fended off the Saint Louis defense and helped Portland secure the clean sheet.
