SEATTLE, Wash. – The Pilots opened competition Friday at the Husky Classic with multiple personal bests and all-time marks at Dempsey Indoor, setting the tone for a strong start to the weekend.
In the women's 200-meter prelim, Aria Cain placed fifth overall in 24.80, a personal best that moves her to No. 2 all-time in program history. Malia Harvey followed in 14th at 25.09, also a PR and now third all-time.
On the distance side, Jonas Price delivered a standout performance in the men's 3000 meters. Price finished seventh in 7:45.65, a personal best and the second-fastest mark in school history. Anthony Giesch added a PR of 8:20.25, while Nathan Stein (8:15.73), Giuliano Scasso (8:26.44), Jacob Hupke (8:30.64), Eliason Kabasenche (8:32.12) and Aaron Rovnak (8:42.72) rounded out a deep field for the Pilots.
Lindsey Kaines recorded a personal best of 9:56.14 in the women's 3000 meters.
The men's distance medley relay team of Boston Potts, Yutaka Roberts, Elliot Hawley and Bodie Alderson placed fourth overall in 10:05.26 to cap the evening.
The Pilots return to the track Saturday for day two of the Husky Classic, with Cain returns to the track for the 60-meter prelims, Harvey in the 400 meters, and a full slate of middle-distance events still to come.
