PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots squeaked out the 3-1 win over the Niagara Purple Eagles on Saturday, officially clinching the series. The win puts Portland at 4-5 on the year.
Portland was stellar on the mound and in the field. The Pilots got solid performances from all three pitchers today. Logan Anderson started and went six innings with just one run and two hits allowed along with three strikeouts. The Treys handled relief duties for Portland, with Trey Swygart earning his first win as a Pilot with a two-inning shutout appearance. Trey Newmann earned his second save of the weekend, going an inning with two strikeouts.
Nolan Miller went a team-leading 3-for-4 at the plate, tallying a stolen base and an RBI as well. It's the first time in Miller's career he's had three hits in a game. Brady Bean was the only other batter to earn multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with an RBI himself. Cody Nitowitz added the other RBI with a 1-for-2 performance.
