SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland Pilots Baseball infielder Jonas Salk was named to the 2026 All-WCC Preseason Team for the first time in his career as the Pilots were picked to finish fourth in the annual WCC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Salk was the only Pilot last year to make the All-WCC First Team. Salk was one of the top power hitters in the conference, posting a .282 average with 11 doubles, 13 home runs and 44 RBI's. His 13 homers were the most by a Pilot since 2008, ranking fourth in the WCC. Salk slugged .807 in WCC play ranked third in home runs (nine) and OPS (1.287), fourth in runs scored (24) and doubles (nine), seventh in RBI's (26) and eighth in batting average (.373).
The Pilots were picked to finish fourth in the conference behind the San Diego Toreros, Gonzaga Bulldogs and Saint Mary's Gaels, with the Pilots accruing 55 points. San Diego was picked first at 77 points and five first-place votes, Gonzaga second with 73 points and four first-place votes and Saint Mary's third with 67 points and one first-place vote.
The LMU Lions were picked right behind the Pilots at 52 points, with the Santa Clara Broncos in sixth at 38 points. The San Francisco Dons were picked seventh at 29 points while the Pacific Tigers and Pepperdine Waves slot in at eighth and ninth at 24 and 23 points respectively. The newcomers, the Seattle U Redhawks, were picked 10
th at 12 points.
The Pilots went 22-30 overall last year and also 13-11 in WCC play, qualifying for the WCC Tournament for the fourth straight season. They've posted five straight seasons of 20 wins or more for the first time since 2012 and have done so in seven of the last eight seasons.
The Pilots open the season against the Purdue Boilermakers down in Sugarland, Texas. The two teams play a four-game series starting on Friday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. PST. Be sure to check PortlandPilots.com for how to follow along.
