LAS VEGAS – The Portland Pilots battled in quarterfinal matchup at the 2026 Credit Union 1 Basketball Championships but ultimately fell 60-50 to the Oregon State Beavers. The Pilots fall to 18-14 on the season.
Dyani Ananiev led the Pilots in scoring with 14 points, adding four steals. She moves to 76 steals on the year, reaching a total last achieved by Emme Shearer in the 2023-24 season. Lainey Spear added 12 points as well as eight rebounds.
Portland forced 16 turnovers and added seven steals, with Ananiev's four steals leading the way. They held the Beavers to just 34.4% shooting from the field and 20% from outside but were outshot at the free throw line 24 free throws to six. OSU outrebounded the shorthanded Pilots 54-29 and scored 20 second chance points.
How it Happened
Oregon State controlled the action inside, working it in to Lizzy Williamson for some hard-fought points in the paint early. But Portland bounced back, holding the Beavers scoreless for a three-minute stretch and putting together a 10-0 run to push their lead to five. A late 3-pointer from the Beavs cut the lead to two, but Portland led 15-13 after the first.
The Pilots and Beavers traded buckets in the early goings of the second quarter, with the Pilots pushing their lead to as much as six points. Neither team could find the bottom of the net until the Beavers put together a 12-0 run late. The Pilots were held scoreless in the final five minutes, with the Beavers holding a 31-25 lead at the half.
The Beavers extended that run to 16-0 in the third quarter before the Pilots got on the board. Portland put together a quick 7-0 to bring a double-digit lead back down to three points. But Portland went cold again soon after, with the Beavers scoring the final five points of the quarter to make it 42-34 Pilots through three.
Portland continued to cut into that lead, but never quite got over the hump, only cutting OSU's lead down to four. The Pilots ultimately fell 60-50.
