McMINNVILLE, Ore. — The Portland Pilots opened the 2026 outdoor track & field season at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker Invitational at Maxwell Field, highlighted by a 10,000-meter victory from KG Monyebodi and multiple personal-best performances from the distance squad.
Monyebodi led the field in the men's 10,000 meters, crossing the line first with a personal-record time of 28:58.31 to secure the event title. He was one of several Pilots to record PRs in the race.
Collin Penuel finished sixth overall in 29:56.73, followed closely by Jacob Hupke, who placed seventh with a 29:58.95. Bodie Alderson also posted a strong run, finishing 11th with a 30:19.83, while Matthew Cordova placed 21st with a 31:08.68.
On the women's side, Aaliyah Nero represented Portland in the sprint events, finishing 23rd in the 100 meters with a time of 13.74 and 20th in the 200 meters in 28.31.
The Pilots return to competition in two weeks with athletes competing at a pair of meets on March 20–21. Portland will send competitors to the OSU PNW Invitational in Corvallis, Ore. at the Whyte Track and Field Center, while another group will race at the Lewis & Clark Opener in Portland, Ore. at Eldon Fix Track.
