SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference announced Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team, with Portland Pilots senior Elizabeth Ortiz earning selection to the team.
Ortiz, a marketing major, posted a perfect 4.0 GPA to earn recognition among the conference's top student-athletes. Her selection highlights her performance in the classroom throughout her career with the Pilots.
In addition to Ortiz's honor, Portland placed two student-athletes on the All-Academic Honorable Mention list. Leonie Freytag, a computer science major, and Elin Larsson, a nursing major, were both recognized for their academic work while competing for the Pilots this season.
The WCC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who have excelled both academically and athletically during the year.
To be eligible for WCC All-Academic recognition, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA based on the most recently completed term, hold at least sophomore academic and athletic standing with one year in residence at their institution, and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's completed contests.
The Pilots wrap up their season this week at the WCC Beach Volleyball Championship in Santa Monica, Calif. For more coverage, visit PortlandPilots.com.
