LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Former Portland Pilots Men's Soccer defender Sebastian Hernandez was signed on Saturday to a short-term contract with MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.
Hernandez was stellar in his four years of playing on The Bluff, playing in 67 matches. He earned All-WCC First Team honors in 2025 and All-WCC Honorable Mention in 2023. He had six goals and seven assists over his Pilot career while guiding Portland's defense. As team captain in 2025, Hernandez and the Pilots defensively allowed just 12 goals in 20 games, their fewest goals allowed in any full season since 1988.
The Pilots have a proud record of players earning their chance in MLS. The Pilots have had 12 players either sign with an MLS side or get drafted in the MLS SuperDraft since 2016. The Pilots have five players returning in 2026 who were drafted to MLS.
