Eric Jackson was named an assistant coach in April of 2006 after spending the 2005-06 season as director of basketball operations and strength and conditioning coordinator at the University of Wyoming. Jackson was at Indiana University during the 2004-05 season serving as an administrative assistant and strength and conditioning coordinator for the Hoosiers.
He was an assistant coach at the University of Utah from 2002-04 and was instrumental in all facets of the program, including recruiting, academic counseling, practice preparation, as well as directing the Rick Majerus Summer Basketball Camps. Prior to his position as a full-time assistant, Jackson was the video coordinator at Utah and assisted with scouting opponents.
Jackson began his coaching career as an assistant at St. Norbert College in DePere, Wis. (1996-00). He was a standout player at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay under head coach Dick Bennett. Jackson was a team captain, led the team in assists two years and was twice an All-Defensive Team honoree. He helped lead the Phoenix to three NCAA Tournaments and a first-round upset of fifth-ranked California, which featured future NBA stars Jason Kidd and Lamond Murray.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from UW-Green Bay in 2000.
At Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wis., Jackson was two-time all-league and a second-team all-state honoree. Rufus King won the state title in 1991 and was ranked as high as 12th in the nation by USA Today in 1992, Jackson’s senior season.
Jackson also ran a free camp for city youth in while in Milwaukee.
