2010: 2010 Pre-Season All-Conference selection… Came in 4th overall at the Charles Bowles Invitational 8k in a time of 23:31.73 on Oct. 2… Finished 8th overall in the NCAA Pre-National 8k “White Race” with a time of 23:54.4… Finished 54th at the NCAA Men’s Cross Country West Regional 10k on Nov. 13 with his time of 31:10.99 while battling an injury suffered at the WCC Championship… 45th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships 10k on Nov. 22 with his time of 30:37.
2009: Earned USTFCCCA Division I All-America honors...finished No. 14 (29:48.3) at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind. pushing the team to a 13th place finish overall (11/23/09)... finished first place (24:20) at the 2009 West Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Championships in Belmont, Calif. where the Pilots also finished in first place in the team standings (10/31/09)...placed eighth (23:53.3) at the 2009 NCAA Pre-National Invitational 10/17/09)...sixth place finish (23:41.86) at the 2009 Bill Dellinger Invitational in Springfield, Ore. (10/2/09).
2008: Cross-country:
Earning All-America honors finishing 18th at the 2008 NCAA Division I Championships (29:54.8, 10k) at Terra Haute, Ind. (11/24/08) helping team to overall seventh place finish ... third place finish at the NCAA Division I West Regional (28:36.02, 10k) at Stanford, Calif. helping the team to a third-place overall finish (11/15/08) ... placed second at Bill Dellinger Invitational (24:05.48,8k) in Springfield, Ore. (10/04/08) ... first-place and course record at Western Oregon Summer's End Invitational (24:14.20, 8k) at Monmouth, Ore. leading team to first-place overall ... selected to USTFCCCA All-West Region team.
PERSONAL: Alfred never got a chance to meet his father as he died soon after Alfred was born. Being raised by his mother Alfred attended Marakwet High School in 2002 and graduated in 2005. He played volleyball in high school and was not really a runner. However, eleven months after graduating high school he began to train as a runner and came to run at Univeristy of Portland. He also gives a special shout out to Samson for his influence.
