UNIVERSITY OF PORTLAND 2009-10: Counted 24.5 out of 27 total rounds during freshman campaign … had one top-10 finish and three top-20 placings, all coming in the spring … posted a season scoring average of 75.48 … was tied for first after firing an opening-round, four-under-par 68 at the Oregon Duck Invitational (March 22-23); ended tied for sixth with a 213 (-3); his 68 was the second lowest round for the Pilots during the season; 213 was tied for the team’s lowest 54-hole score … tied for 13th overall at the WSU Snowman Getaway (Feb. 22-23) and tied for 18th at the USF Triumph at Pauma Valley (Mar. 15-16).
CENTENNIAL HS: Four-year letterwinner for coach Ryan Ruuttila… at the 2009 Oregon 6A State Tournament, chipped in from 25 yards out for an eagle on the final hole to earn co-medalist honors … he finished second at the 2008 state tourney and tied for fifth in 2007, giving him three straight all-state team selections … was also named the Mount Hood Conference Player of the Year and team MVP all four years … helped the Eagles claim the 2008 conference title.
PERSONAL: Born on Dec. 12, 1990 in Portland, Ore. … parents are Debbie and Jim Chianello … major is business … four-time member of the Hogan Cup Team (2005-08) … he won the International Junior Golf Tournament at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club; He then moved on to compete at the IJGT Tournament of Champions in Orlando, Fla. … just missed qualifying for the 2009 USGA U.S. Amateur by one stroke … finished eighth at the 2009 Oregon Stroke Play Championships.
