Hanson, formerly Lauren Orlandos, was hired to her current position in June, 2004. Hanson primarily works with the women’s team and shares recruiting and player development responsibilities.
Hanson was with the U.S. National Team (2001-02) after joining the squad for a two-game tour of China in 2001. She was with the U.S. U-21 National Team from 1999-2000 and participated in the full-team camp in 2000. She was also a member of the U-18 National Team (1998), the U-16 National Team pool (1996) and the Far West Region Team (1995-98).
A Region IV staff member for the U-13 and U-14 girls, Hanson has worked with F.C. Portland since 2004, assisting the U-16 girls team to 2005 state finals and then to the regional finals. As an assistant, she helped lead the U-17 girls Maroon team to the 2006 State Cup title. Hanson is also the head coach of the girls U-14 FC Portland Sage team.
During the summer of 2006, Hanson worked as an assistant coach with the 91 girls regional team and assisted at the U-14 girls National Team camp.
A four-year starter for the Pilots as a central defender, Hanson helped lead Portland to the 2002 NCAA Championship and was named to Soccer America’s 11-player MVP team her senior season. She was also a First Team NSCAA and Soccer Buzz All-America selection as a senior. A M.A.C Hermann Trophy nominee, Hanson was selected to the 2002 NCAA College Cup all-tournament team after helping the defense allow just one goal in six playoff games en route to the title. The 2002 WCC Defender of the Year and a three-time first team All-WCC performer, Hanson was a Soccer Buzz First Team All-American and a NSCAA second team pick as a junior.
Hanson was selected ninth overall in the 2003 WUSA Draft and started five games, while enduring an injury-plagued season with the New York Power.
A native of Newport Beach, Calif., Hanson (25) is married to Travis Hanson, a former stand out on the baseball diamond for the Pilots and a current member of the St. Louis Cardinals organization. She has done numerous individual training with youths, and coached camps for both the New York Power and at the University of Portland soccer camps.
