Kelsey Quinn joined the University of Portland’s cross country men’s and women’s teams in the fall of 2018 as an assistant coach. Prior to coming to the Bluff, she was the Director of Operations for University of Washington’s cross country teams. Quinn has coached track and field since graduating from the University of Iowa where she was a standout hurdler and sprinter.
Quinn helped both the Portland men and women qualify for the 2018 NCAA XC Championships, where the Portland men claimed their third podium finish in five years and the women posted their best ever finish at the meet placing 12th. The Pilots produced a total of five All-Americans at the Championship meet, the most in Pilot history.
In the fall of 2015 through the spring of 2017, Quinn was also the head track and field coach at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Ore. Prior to that she was an assistant coach at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa.
While completing her Master’s degree in Kinesiology at Iowa State University, Quinn worked with the ISU women’s volleyball and soccer teams on strength and conditioning.
As an undergraduate at the University of Iowa, Quinn qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships in the 400m hurdles and as part of the 4x400m relay, making the Iowa top-10 lists in those events. A native of Marion, Iowa, Quinn was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team.
