SALEM, Ore. – The University of Portland’s track & field teams competed at the two-day Oregon Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
The Pilots were led by senior Ashlee Vincent (pictured), who scored a second-place finish in the 5000-meter run. Vincent’s blistering time of 16:28.42 qualifies her for the 2006 NCAA West Regional Championships, which will be held in Provo, Utah on May 26 and 27.
Both of the Pilots’ relay teams finished in seventh place. The 4x100 team finished in 51.32 seconds, while the 4x400 team finished in 4:14.46.
The top finisher on the men’s side was sophomore John Moore, who finished in 13th place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:14.73. Moore missed qualifying for the West Regionals in the event by just under five seconds. Senior Scott Knackstedt placed fifth in the ‘B’ section of the 1500-meter run, finishing with a time of 3:58.10.
The Pilots’ next action will be at the Western Oregon Twilight on Friday, April 28.
