PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. --- Portland women’s golf coach Michelle Murphy and her husband Daniel were two of the forty-two graduates, representing 21 states, who comprised the most recent class to advance through the PGA Professional Golf Management Program. Michelle and Daniel are the first husband-wife duo to advance to PGA membership while in the same class in the program.
Both are employed at Waverley Country Club in Portland, where Daniel, 54, serves as director of instruction and Michelle, who turned 43 on May 21, is an assistant professional.
The graduates were honored in ceremonies conducted May 18, at the PGA Education Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
The PGA Professional Golf Management program, which originated in 1996, has produced 8,207 graduates. Of that total, the PGA Education Center in Port St. Lucie has produced graduates since 2002 representing 48 states, Canada, The District of Columbia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Spain, The Netherlands and the Virgin Islands.
