PORTLAND, Ore. --- University of Portland women’s golfers Paige Rachor and Avery Collura have been named to the 2010 National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team for NCAA Division I. This is the second time on the NGCA All-Scholar team for Rachor, while it’s the first honor for Collura.
Rachor, who just concluded her collegiate career this spring, was also named to the 2010 West Coast Conference Spring All-Academic team. She earned All-WCC Honorable Mention twice during her four years on The Bluff and she won the individual title at the Red Rocks Invitational during her senior campaign. The native of Bellingham, Wash., was also named to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team as a freshman.
Collura will be a sophomore this fall and played in all 17 rounds for the Pilots during her first year on The Bluff. She had two top-20 finishes and fired a season-low round of 72 during the third round of the Bulldog & Eagle Invitational, the first tournament of her collegiate career. The 72 allowed the native of Vancouver, Wash., to finish tied for 12th and was tied for low-round of the year for the Pilots.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
