PORTLAND, Ore. --- Newschannel 8 at Sunrise and 'Out and About' host Drew Carney checked in on the University of Portland women's soccer team on Wednesday morning at Merlo Field. Carney met up with the team and head coach Garrett Smith to talk about the upcoming home weekend games and the Pilots chances for a third NCAA Championship.

The Pilots host SMU on Friday at 7 p.m. at Merlo Field at the Clive Charles Soccer Complex. The match will be preceded by the second annual Bite on the Bluff, from noon until kickoff. As part of Orientation Weekend welcoming students back to campus, a variety of food vendors will be on hand at the Chiles Center pavilion with a variety of dining options. The game will be concluded with a spectacular fireworks show. Tickets are still available - $9 for general admission – at the Pilot Box Office or through Ticketmaster.
