Well, here I am, the first European ever to write the men’s tennis blog. First off I will briefly introduce myself: My name is Alejandro (not Aleyandro) Garcia Ferrero, I’m from Spain, I’m a Barcelona fan and I play tennis at UP. Now that you fully know me I will update you on how we are doing. We currently have a 9-2 record coming from our first loss at home with two victories in row this last weekend. We are playing one match this weekend against Montana before the hardest part of our schedule comes.
Please excuse me if I commit any grammatical errors but my English is still far from perfection even though it has improved a lot. Special mention here for my roommate Ratan who, besides being my teammate, he’s been my private English teacher for the last year and a half.
I got really excited when I heard that we were getting a new player from Macedonia for this semester because I thought that I would never be the worst English speaker on the team. However, Stefan spoke better English than me since the first day he was here. There is no hope for me, I will be the object of laughs during the rest of my college career.
Besides my vocabulary problems, I got to say that I’m the best bowling player on our team. It is true that most of our team is international students and they don’t know much about this great sport but I was expecting more from one of our two AMMUUUUUURRRRRRICANNN players, Geoff. He really sucks at bowling, he better go play basketball, and soon you guys will know why I say this.
To conclude I would say that if I’m really proud of one thing I’ve done for our team so far is to make all of them F.C.Barcelona diehard fans. From the first day I showed them my team they all got really into it and they never miss a game and they are always up to date about how the team is doing. Furthermore, they are always asking me to go play soccer since they want to emulate their idols such as Messi, Xavi or Iniesta. I have to say that my influence on the team has been that strong that even our head coach Aaron got a Barcelona jersey which he is really proud of and he doesn’t hesitate to show whenever Barcelona beats Real Madrid.
I hope all you guys had a great spring break as the one we had. We stayed here during the entire week and since tennis is too easy for us we went to improve our basketball skills several times. I know you guys wouldn’t believe me If I just tell you that we are really good at it so that is why I show you this video, enjoy!
By the way, Geoff will be a free agent this summer so if any NBA coach is interested just directly contact him to: The Shire, 123. Geoff Baggins. The Middle Earth Blvd. (Geoff approved this).
