PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland's Cassandra Brown hit three three-pointers en route to a game-high 19 points, Alexis Byrd added 13 points and Erin Boettcher had 12 rebounds as the Pilots rolled to an 81-47 win over the Concordia Cavaliers in an exhibition game on Tuesday night at the Chiles Center.
Â
Brown shot six of nine overall and was a perfect 3-for-3 on three's in the first half. A redshirt-junior, Brown missed all of last season recovering from off-season surgery.
Â
10 of Boettcher's boards came on the offensive end of the court, and freshman Hannah Mattson flirted with a double-double in her first collegiate action, finishing with seven points and nine rebounds.
Â
All 12 available players scored for the Pilots, and Portland posted a sizeable 60-24 advantage on the glass.
Â
The Pilots enjoyed their first double-digit lead of the game nine minutes in after Kari Luttinen hit a mid-range jumper. From there the lead would swell to 20 before the Pilots took a 44-25 lead into the halftime locker room.
Â
Portland's lead would grow in the second half, eventually reaching 35 points when the Pilots led 75-40 with about five minutes left to play.
Â
Lexi Campbell led the Cavaliers with 16 points off the bench. The Pilots claimed a 40-10 advantage in points in the paint, a 35-2 edge in second chance points and out-scored Concordia 27-13 in points off turnovers.
Â
The Pilots next open the regular season on Friday Nov. 8 against Eastern Washington at the Chiles Center. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m. and the game is part of UP double-header as the men will follow with a match-up against UC Davis.Â
