LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The Loyola Marymount Lions used a sizeable edge in rebounds and overcame a late 20-0 run by Portland to defeat the Pilots 78-64 in a West Coast Conference women's basketball game played on Saturday afternoon at Gersten Pavilion. The Pilots, who won Thursday night at Pepperdine, drop to 11-9 on the year and to 4-5 in the WCC.

After leading by 12 at the break, the Lions hit the first two buckets of the second half to stretch the lead to 37-21. Amy Pupa then hit a jumper to briefly pull the Pilots within 14, but the LMU lead would soon grow to 34 points.
The Pilots were able to improve their shooting and hit some shots late, closing the game on a 20-0 run, but LMU was able to hold on for the win.
LMU shot 41.6 percent on the day, while the Pilots raised their shooting percentage to 40.4 percent by the end of the game. LMU had 10 three-pointers and went 14-for-17 at the foul line, while the Pilots connected on five three's and shot 17 of 25 on free throws.
