Women's Highlights, Interviews STANFORD, Calif. --- The Portland Pilots men's cross country team finished second and the women's team placed seventh at the NCAA West Regional on Friday. Seniors Scott Fauble (29:40) and Tansey Lystad (20:08) led their teams with fourth and sixth place overall finishes.
The second place finish in the 10-kilometer race gives the men's team an automatic bid to the NCAA National Championship, which will take place on Nov. 22 in Terra Haute, Ind. Helping to qualify the team for Nationals was William Kincaid (9
th, 29:51), Reid Buchanan (10
th, 29:51), David Perry (14
th, 25:54), Timo Goehler (34
th, 30:13), Danny Martinez (39
th, 30:18), and Alex Dillard (53
rd, 30:32).
Last year the women's side placed ninth as a team and Lystad was the top individual finisher at 18
th. This year's seventh place finish marks the best finish since the teams fifth place finish in 2008, which still stands as the best finish in program history. Portland led all other WCC teams as Loyola Marymount finished in ninth and San Francisco was in 12
th. Lystad's sixth place finish qualifies her for Nationals next weekend.
Also finishing the 6-kilometer course for the Pilots were Anne Luijten (34

th, 21:24), Sanna Mustonen (52
nd, 21:25), Lauren LaRocco (72
nd, 21:43), Anna Farello (76
th, 21:47), and Maddie Hibshman (111
th, 22:17).
In total five Pilots finished in the top-25 of their races which garnered them All-Region honors. On the list for the women is Lystad; Fauble, Kincaid, Buchanan, and Perry each received the award on the men's side.
