"Cali Thompson is a highly skilled setter that will make an immediate impact in our gym, and on our team," said head coach Brent Crouch. "Moreover, I expect her to improve a great deal during her career as she is also one of the most highly motivated players I know. Cali is also an impressive server and beach player."
Izzy Guzik is a 6-0 outside hitter from San Diego, Calif. The right hander attends Westview High School where she has earned multiple accolades for the Wolverines. She was awarded the team MVP in 2012 before earning second team All-League (Palomar League) in 2013 and first team All-League in 2014 honors. In 2014 she also appeared on the first team All-CIF which led to her appearance on the 2015 All-American Watch List. During her high school career she had over 780 kills and 530 digs with a career high 27 kills and 17 digs occurring on Oct. 8 2015.
On the club stage she competes for Coast Volleyball Club. Among various first place finishes at tournaments across the nation, she helped the team to a fifth place finish at the National Championship Open Division in 2014 and to the number one 17s team in Southern California in 2015.
"Solid outside hitters are a necessity for success in the WCC, and Izzy Guzik fits the bill," added Crouch. "She has played at the highest levels in club volleyball with excellent coaches. She has competed throughout high school in one of the best volleyball regions in the country – San Diego. Izzy will compete right away for time as a pin hitter on our team."
Emma Scanlan is a 5-7 libero/defensive specialist from Moraga, Calif.
"I've been fortunate to know Emma Scanlan and her family for a number years, and have seen her develop into an outstanding passer and defender, not to mention an excellent beach player," said Crouch. "Emma also brings an enthusiasm that is contagious and a will to win."
Scanlan plays for the Head Royce School Jayhawks who were Bay Counties League Champions 2012-15. Individually she received All-Tournament Awards and first team All-League all four years, and in 2014 and 2015 she was named the team's MVP. She also competes for the NorCal Volleyball Club who has made it to Junior Nationals for the past six years.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Izzy, Cali, and Emma to our volleyball program, and am looking forward to next summer when all three will be competing in our gym." concluded Crouch.
