Updated CCB Collegiate Invitational Draws

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – Portland doubles tandem Pierre Garcia and Carlos Donat won two more doubles matches to claim the Houndstooth Draw title on Saturday at the CCB Collegiate Invitational hosted at the Country Club of Birmingham.

The top-seeded duo in the draw won in a tiebreaker against a team from Troy in the semifinals and then posted an 8-4 victory against a pair from Samford to claim the doubles title in the finals.

The Pilots have four players competing at the tournament against teams from Alabama, East Tennessee State, Lipscomb, Miami, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Tennessee, Troy, Tulane and UAB.
 
Pierre Garcia reached the semifinals of the White Singles Draw, but fell in straight sets to the top-seed from Miami on Saturday.

Alex Wallace posted a straight set consolation singles win and also teamed up for a consolation doubles win with Mathieu Garcia on Saturday.

"We played some very good doubles to begin the day," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said. "Winning three of the four matches we played, including Pierre and Carlos winning their doubles bracket. It was very encouraging to see some good doubles from us. Singles was tougher. We definitely lost to some good players, but we're struggling with health a little bit. It was nice to see Alex Wallace get a win today. He has played well enough to win his previous matches but just didn't get over the finish line. He did a nice job today."

The tournament concludes on Sunday with final singles and doubles matches. No live scoring or video is available, but complete results will be updated following each day's action.
