UP Women's Soccer's Sarah Jones' Summer Internship
SEATTLE, Wash. – The Portland Sports Network (PSN), University of Portland's in-house athletics video team, has been nominated for a Northwest Emmy® Award as announced by the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
PSN's feature "UP Women's Soccer's Sarah Jones' Summer Internship" was nominated in the "News: General Assignment Light" as part of the 2017 College Award Nominations. The feature originally aired on June 15, 2016 on our monthly television show "Portside With The Pilots" on CSN. The story was edited by University of Portland Senior Computer Science major and PSN intern Jenna Phillips.
"I am very happy for our video team on earning another Northwest Emmy nomination," said Jason Brough, Associate Athletic Director for Public Relations. "Jenna is so deserving of this recognition. She came to us as a computer science intern with zero video editing experience and now will graduate as an Emmy-nominated producer. We are fortunate that the University of Portland administration has recognized and invested in the growth of our video department. It is rewarding to be able to collaborate with students, faculty and staff to produce content that tells the University of Portland story."
Last year, PSN was nominated for three Northwest Emmy® Awards, one in the Sports – Feature/Segment category and two in the Northwest Regional College Student Awards division. UP Senior Riley Clark won an Emmy® in the Students Awards Division for his feature "University of Portland Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Raises Money for St. Baldrick's Foundation" that aired on "Portside With The Pilots."
The Northwest Regional Emmy® Awards will be held on Saturday, June 3rd in Seattle, Washington.
