PORTLAND, Ore. – The Arizona Wildcats won the final three singles matches to pull out a 4-3 victory over the Portland Pilots Thursday at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center. The Wildcats improve to 9-7 on the season, while Portland drops to 4-8.

The match featured numerous momentum swings from the outset. The Pilots pulled out a remarkable comeback in doubles play to earn the first point of the match. Arizona's tandem of Devin Chypyha and Gitte Heynemans won at No. 3 doubles and the Wildcats had 5-2 leads at each of the top two positions, but Portland came back to win both matches in tiebreakers for the 1-0 lead.

Sophomores Jelena Lukic and Anna Oberg defeated Mary Lewis and Marie Van Aelst 7-1 in the tiebreaker at No. 1, while junior Radina Dimitrova and freshman Raphaelle Leblanc won by a 7-3 margin against Camila Wesbrooks and Paris Corley at No. 2.

Lukic and Dimitrova continued their hot singles play at the top of the lineup with straight set wins. Dimitrova won her fifth consecutive dual singles match with a 7-6, 6-1 win against Devin Chypyha at the No. 2 position. Lukic posted a 6-4, 6-1 win against Lewis at No. 1 singles to improve to 7-4 in dual matches at the top of the lineup.

Arizona got a win from Wesbrooks at No. 3 to make it 3-1 Pilots heading into the back half of singles play.

The Wildcats posted straight set wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions leaving No. 4 singles as the deciding point between Portland's Raphaelle Leblanc and Arizona's Marie Van Aelst.

Van Aelst won the first set 6-1, but Leblanc bounced back with a 6-2 win to force a third set. Van Aelst held on for a 6-4 margin to clinch for the Wildcats.

Portland will have a quick turnaround before returning to West Coast Conference play on Friday. The Pilots host the San Diego Toreros at 11 a.m. at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center. Live scoring and video will be available at PortlandPilots.com.
