PORTLAND, Ore. --- Midfielder Jasmine Garibay (Madera, Calif./Madera South HS/Fresno City College) has committed to the University of Portland and will join the Pilots in the fall with two years remaining of eligibility, announced head coach Michelle French. Garibay spent the past two years at Fresno City College, where she was a First Team All-American as a sophomore.
"Jasmine impressed us as a player with her individual technical ability to escape tight spaces, along with her sophistication of her final pass in the attack," said French. "Even more admirable to us, is her confidence, desire, and commitment to her continued growth as a player and person. Jasmine will have an immediate impact on the culture of our program. We are extremely excited for Jasmine to start the next chapter of her career as a Pilot!"
Last fall Garibay collected 12 goals and 11 assists as the Rams reached number one in the nation for division III with an unbeaten record of 25-0-2. Fresno City also posted a remarkable 22 shutouts, while out-scoring the opposition 148-7 during the season.
Previously Garibay spent four years playing varsity for Madera South High School, where she earned second-team all-conference all four years. The Stallions won a pair of Valley Conference Titles, and they won three tournaments.
