BELLEVUE, Wash. --- Portland's Jace McKinney had a triple and scored both runs, Jordan Horak struck out six in 4.1 innings of solid relief, and Connor Knutson collects his sixth save of the year as the Pilots blanked the Seattle Redhawks 2-0 on Wednesday at Bannerwood Park. The win gives the Pilots a sweep of the mid-week, two-game series, and Portland claims the season series over Seattle U as well.

Horak (1-2) and Knutson, along with starter Cameron Richman, combined to hold the Redhawks (30-17) to just six hits, while striking out 11 on the day. Horak, a senior lefty, gets the win, and the Pilots (19-26) register their third shutout of the year.

The 19 wins this season are also the most for the Pilots since 2012.

Portland scored their first run in the top of the third inning after McKinney reached base with a one-out single. A pair of walks then loaded the bases, but Seattle starter Nathan Bonck was able to record the second out with a pop-out. But Bonck wasn't as fortunate against Cody Hawken, who hammered a ball through the third baseman that scored McKinney and gave the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The lead would prove to be enough, but the Pilots still added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning. McKinney again came to the plate with one out, and this time he sent a ball deep into the left-center gap for his third triple of the year. Matt Kelly then produced a sacrifice fly, easily scoring McKinney to make it a 2-0 game.

Richman held the Redhawks scoreless during the first 3.2 innings, fanning three along the way. Horak took over with one out in the bottom of the fourth, and he promptly retired 10 straight batters, five via the strike out.

Knutson entered the game in the top of the 9th, and he immediately struck out the first two batters he faced. He then sealed the win with a pop-out to first.

Bonck (4-2) takes the loss for the Redhawks, who used five pitchers overall.

Hawken finished with a pair of hits for the Pilots, while Chase Wells had three of Seattle U's six hits.

Next up for the Pilots is a visit from the San Diego Toreros for a three-game West Coast Conference series this weekend at Joe Etzel Field. Friday's opener is set to begin at 6 p.m., and the series marks the final time playing at home this season for Portland.

The Pilots will celebrate senior day with a ceremony prior to Sunday's finale.
