Men's Basketball Camp Information

University of Portland Men's Basketball will host an exciting summer of camp programs for players of all ages this summer. Come learn from the Pilot staff, meet current and former players and experience the excitement of Portland Pilots basketball in the Chiles arena. GENERAL 2010 CAMP INFORMATION
- Portland Head Coach Eric Reveno and Pilot Assistant Coaches Joel Sobotka, Eric Jackson and Michael Wolf are the camp directors
- All camps are assisted with top high school and college coaches
- A certified athletic trainer is on-site for all camps
- The Chiles Center features three full-size, air conditioned courts

Team Camps: June 18-20, 2010
- Play against the top high school programs from across the region
- Five game minimum guarantee
- Lectures, drills and demonstrations from the Pilot Coach Staff
- Overnight and commuter team options
- Varsity and JV brackets
- Play indoors on the Chiles Center arena floor

Elite Pilot Post-Perimeter Combine: July 1-2, Aug. 7-8 2010 Grades 9+ 
- Intense instruction in an overnight camp setting (live like a Pilot)
- Learn the Pilots' proven skill development program
- Elite college prospects division within each camp
- Position camps run simultaneously to allow for isolated position work and combined live play

Advanced Skills Camps: June 22-23, June 29-30 & Aug. 3-4 2010, 6-9 PM, Grades 6+
Focus on essential drills and professional instruction in the following:
- Ballhandling skills
- Offensive dribble moves
- Moving without the ball
- Reading screens & scoring
- Setting up your defender
- Understanding game situations
- Shooting: form, technique & footwork
- Simulated games test skills in "live" situations

Pilot Day Camps: June 21-25 & Aug. 2-6, 2010, 9 AM-3 PM, Grades 3-8
- Skill development stations
- Individual skills contests
- Competitive 5-on-5 games
- Lectures and demonstrations from Pilot coaches and players

• Long the backbone of Pilot Baseball School, the All Skills Camps cover all baseball fundamentals with a primary emphasis on hitting and throwing. Both the physical and mental sides of the game are an active part of the teaching format. These camps are suitable for players of a wide range of ability, from beginner to all-star. NOTE TO LITTLE LEAGUE ALL-STARS AND ALL-STAR COACHES: The All Skills Camp has been an important part of the success of many local all-star teams’ tournament preparation. Over the years, many coaches have sent their teams to camp in the mornings while they attend to their busy work schedules. Advanced Pitching and Hitting Camp • $75
July 19-20 • Ages 11-16 • 8:30 AM - Noon
• This camp is designed for experienced players who desire specialized instruction in the areas of pitching or catching. UP head coach Chris Sperry will lead the catchers through the areas of proper stances/transitions, receiving, blocking, throwing, and the various fielding plays that a catcher must handle. Participants must bring their own gear, including mask, chest protector, shin guards, glove, spikes, and cup. UP pitching coach and former major leaguer Larry Casian will direct the pitchers. Campers will receive instruction and drill in the areas of throwing/pitching mechanics, mental aspects/strategy of pitching, various pitches and grips, pickoffs, and fielding practice. Each pitcher will be videotaped and analyzed during camp.

2010-11 WINTER BASEBALL CAMPS

MID-WINTER DEVELOPMENTAL HIGH SCHOOL PROSPECT CAMP
Dates TBA
The Mid-Winter High School Prospect Camp from Pilot Baseball School is in its fourth year at the University of Portland. Designed for the serious college-bound high school baseball player, this comprehensive camp focuses on the primary defensive position of each camper, as well as hitting, base running, and strength/conditioning. In addition, information on academics, college admission, NCAA eligibility, recruiting, scholarships, and professional baseball will be shared by experts in each area. Held on the University of Portland campus, both indoor and outdoor facilities provide the training space in which high-end instruction is provided by professional coaches, scouts, and players.

Strictly Hitting Camp
• This action-packed camp is designed for the youth player in grades 2-5 (Session Two) and 6-8 (Session One) and is directed by Pilots’ head coach Chris Sperry. The camps are well organized and built around the four components of hitting stressed by Coach Sperry: mechanics, vision, adjustments, and the mental plan or approach.

Throwing / Pitching Camp
• This camp provides players in grades 4 through 8 with an early opportunity to begin mastering the technical skills required for effective throwing and long-term arm health. Campers receive mechanical instruction that benefits players at all positions. Additional time is spent teaching pitching technique from the wind-up and stretch positions.

Pilot Kids Day Camp
2010 
The Pilot Kids Day Camp blends sports and art together to provide your child with a fun & social week. Our program is designed to provide recreational, social and educational opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.
Our staff encourages exploration and skill development while building self-esteem. Your child will grow, learn, make new friends and have a blast!
 
Each day features sports, arts & crafts, games and swimming. We also have special events. Your child will love learning and socializing with other children in our program!
 
The Pilot Kids Camp staff loves working with children! Our Director, Brian Dezzani, has twenty summers of camp programming experience. Camp instructors and counselors are University of Portland students who will fill your child¹s week with excitement and discovery.
