Former University of Portland basketball standout Pooh Jeter has signed a contract with Elan Chalon Saone of the French First Division. Jeter, who will take his trade to Europe for the first time, has been a star player in each of his stops in recent years.
Following a record-breaking career at Portland, Jeter played in the NBDL last season and posted 14.4 points and 7.1 assists per game in 50 appearances for the Colorado 14ers. He was selected to the NBDL All-Star Game and named All-NBDL honorable mention after averaging 25.7 points and 8.3 assists in the playoffs, helping Colorado reach the finals.
Jeter parlayed his successful season into a summer stint with the D-League Ambassadors, averaging 10.8 points and 2.0 assists in the Stankovic Cup, an international event played in China.
The Pilots’ No. 2 all-time scorer with 1,708 points, Jeter was a three-time All-West Coast Conference selection and graduated from the University in the spring of 2006.
Elan Chalon is the former team of current Chicago Bulls guard Thalo Sefolosha. Jeter will be teammates with former University of Oregon forward Bryan Bracey.
