PORTLAND, Ore. --- Sophomore Elli Reed became the second Pilot in as many games to record a hat trick and led No. 6 Portland to a 7-0 win over Northern Arizona Friday night at the Clive Charles Soccer Complex. Portland has now outscored its last three opponents by a 21-0 margin. Washington defeated San Diego State, 2-0, in the early game of the Nike Portland Invitational.
Freshman Charney Burk started the onslaught with a pair of first half goals.
Senior All-American Megan Rapinoe then tallied her first strike of the season in the 41st minute, followed by Reed's first tally two minutes later.
Reed continued to pour it on in the second half, following a Michelle Enyeart strike with consecutive unassisted goals in the 65th and 72nd minutes.
The three goals were the first three of the season for Reed, who collected four assists in two matches last weekend. Freshman Danielle Foxhoven also recorded a hat trick last Sunday in a 6-0 win over Colgate.
Portland outshot NAU 27-2, and had a 13-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Pilots have now shut out four consecutive opponents.
The team will conclude the Nike Invitational on Sunday against SDSU at 2:30 p.m. That match is preceded by Washington and Northern Arizona at noon.
