OregonLive.com Interview
The Portland Trail Blazers announced their roster for the 2009 NBA Summer League and former University of Portland standout Pooh Jeter was among the invitees. Jeter was a three-year starter and two-time All-West Coast Conference point guard for the Pilots from 2002-06 and finished his career on The Bluff as the school’s No. 2 career scorer with 1,708 points.
Jeter has played in the last two NBA Summer Leagues for Sacramento and Minnesota, respectively. He was a NBA D-League All-Star for the Colorado 14ers in 2007 and represented the D-League Ambassadors at the Stankovic Cup in China that summer. He then signed with BC Kyiv in the Ukraine and was voted the league’s top point guard for the 2007-08 season.
Last year Jeter played for Vive Menorca in the Spanish ACB League, widely considered the second best professional league in the world to the NBA. He averaged 16.3 points and 3.1 assists per game.
Jeter is also keeping a personal blog at http://www.draftexpress.com/blog/Pooh-Jeter/ about his professional basketball pursuits.
The Trail Blazers Summer League team, coached by Trail Blazers assistant coach Joe Prunty, will play five games from July 13-19 at Cox Pavilion and the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The Trail Blazers open play on Monday, July 13, against the Toronto Raptors at 5 p.m. (Pacific) and wrap up their five-game slate against the NBA D-League Select Team on July 19 at 7 p.m. (Pacific).
