Wally Pilot returns to The Bluff after five year sabbatical

PORTLAND, Ore. --- The University of Portland has a new mascot as Wally Pilot will be the new face of Pilot athletics. Wally made his return to The Bluff official on Friday and can be expected to be seen around town throughout the summer.

The Pilots discontinued the old Wally mascot following the 2003-04 sports season and were without a mascot until this year. Wally Pilot will be a fixture at all home UP sporting events and will also be a prevalent presence at other University of Portland and City of Portland functions.

Wally Pilot is already scheduled to be at the following events: Blazers Street Jam, WakeJam PDX, Washington Country Fair, Bite of Oregon, Clark County Fair, Dew Action Sports Tour and the Beaverton Parade.

The first home UP athletics contest on the schedule is a women’s soccer match against California on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
