The No. 3 Portland Pilots (3-0-0) look to remain unbeaten and extend their three-game shutout streak as they return to Husky Soccer Field in Seattle, Wash. this weekend for the Husky Invitational. Last Sunday, the Pilots knocked off Washington by a 2-0 margin in Seattle. Portland will face Colorado College (2-0-0) on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and then Columbia (0-0-0) on Sunday at 11 a.m. Washington will serve as the host of the tournament and also play on both days.

Scouting Colorado College
The Tigers (2-0-0) jumped to No. 23 in this week’s Soccer America Top 25 after a pair of home victories against Drake (3-2) and previously ranked Washington State (2-1) last weekend. Junior F Tiffany Brown notched the game-winner over the Cougars and added three assists on the weekend to earn Conference USA Co-Player of the Week honors. Kelly Lavoie and Emily Beans notched two goals each in the wins. Colorado College has a strong history of success in women’s soccer, having gone to the playoffs last in 2006 and previously earning eight consecutive bids (1984 through 1991) as an independent. The Tigers reached the national semifinals five times and the championship match twice, in 1986 and 1989. Head coach Geoff Bennett is in his sixth season at Colorado College, where he’s compiled a record of 56-32-11. The Tigers return eight starters and 17 letterwinners from last year’s squad which finished 13-7-2 overall and fourth in Conference USA. The all-time series between Portland and Colorado College is tied at 3-3-0 with the last meeting coming during the 1999 season.
Scouting Columbia
The Lions (0-0-0) will open their 2009 season at the Husky Invitational against host Washington on Friday before playing the Pilots on Sunday. Columbia posted an 11-4-2 record in 2008 and third place finish in the Ivy League. Head coach Kevin McCarthy returns 10 starters and 22 letterwinners from that squad. McCarthy is in her 16th season with the Lions and has a record of 127-105-28 at the school. Sunday will be the first meeting between Portland and Columbia.
